Bonners Ferry, the seat of Boundary County, is located 25 miles south of the border with Canada on US 95. The permanent settlement of Bonners Ferry dates back to 1864, when E.L. Bonner started a ferry service across the Kootenai River here. Bonners Ferry has a resource-centered economy based on timber and agriculture.The town is 35 miles north of Sandpoint.

Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge
The nearly 3,000 acres of Kootenai Wildlife Refuge are home to a variety of wildlife species, including bear, deer, and coyotes, as well as large colonies of migratory birds such as Tundra swans. Excellent birdwatching and photographic opportunities are available.

The refuge is located five miles west of Bonners Ferry along the Kootenai River.

Moyie Falls
Located north of Bonners Ferry via Hwy 2 and Hwy 54 is one of Idaho's most spectacular sights, Moyie Falls of the Moyie River. Packed tightly within canyon walls, the falls stand as an unbreakable barrier of white thunder and spraying mist. The Moyie Bridge hovers between the canyon walls, suspended 450 feet over white water.
