Just west on Hwy 54 off US 95 between Coeur d'Alene and Sandpoint at the northern edge of Kootenai County, Athol is is home to the Silverwood Theme Park, the Northwest's largest theme park. Nearby is Farragut State Park.

Athol Branch Library
Athol Branch Library was originated as the Open Book Library Club and soon blossomed into a city-operated public library in 1971. Joining the Panhandle regional Library System enabled it to share State library programs and ideas with other Northern Idaho member libraries. Computer system and patron computers are also provided.

Cocolalla Winery
Cocolalla Winery makes traditional champagne by the "methode champenoise" and uses the old Silver Star Mine to age the bottles "sur lattes" for four years. They utilize a Pinot Noir and Chardonnay cuvee to produce 800 cases of Brut champagne annually.

Farragut State Park
Four Miles East of Athol on Highway 54

Farragut State Park is nestled at the foot of the Coeur d'Alene Mountains in the Bitterroot Range. At 4,000 acres, it is one of Idaho's largest state parks and borders Lake Pend Oreille.

Because of its size and variety of available activities, Farragut State Park is excellent for hosting large gatherings. The park features several beaches along Lake Pend Oreille. It is also an excellent wildlife viewing area, home to whitetail deer, badgers, black bears, coyotes, bobcats, and an occasional elk.

During World War II, the site was occupied by Farragut Naval Training Station. Many of Idaho's most beautiful and scenic spots are preserved in the Idaho State Parks system.

Silverwood Airport
Silverwood Airport serves Athol and Kootenai County and is owned by Gary Norton. The paved runway extends for 4200 feet. The facility is at an elevation of 2350 feet at a distance of about 2 miles from Athol.

Silverwood Theme Park
Silverwood is a Victorian turn-of-the-century, seasonal theme park. It offers rides, shows, attractions, games of skill, food services and retail shops. Silverwood, which opened in 1988, is the only park in the U.S. built around a working private airport.

Silverwood is located 15 miles north of Coeur d'Alene on Highway 95. The complex is located on approximately 700 acres. The theme park portion is located on the west side of the highway and the 126-space Silverwood RV Park and a 1,000-vehicle parking lot is on the east side.

Silverwood is managed and maintained by a full-time staff of personnel, supplement by a seasonal staff of 400 when the park is open.

Silverwood RV Park
Open May 1 through October 31, the RV Park offers discounts at the Silverwood Theme Park to RV Park guests. The park is connected by an underground pedestrian walkway with the Theme Park on the other side of the highway.

126 full-hookups stalls are available in a pine forest setting adjacent to he parking lot. Laundry facilities, supply store, restrooms, showers, picnic tables, grills and recreation areas included in the RV Park. Tent camping is permited (two per site). Group discounts (for 20 or more sites used by one organization) are available.
