Chelsea Art Galleries
Chelsea is the center of the contemporary art market in New York and possibly the world. Other areas in New York, such as Williamsburg in Brooklyn, have built strong centers of artists and galleries, but the most successful galleries tend to eventually gravitate to the large audience that can be reached in Chelsea (e.g. Bellwether, Winkleman / Plus Ultra Gallery, Schroeder Romero, Foxy Production, Priska C. Juschka Fine Art, and Monya Rowe, all of which have moved from Williamsburg to Chelsea). The three blocks with the highest concentration of well known galleries are 22nd, 24th, and 25th streets between 10th and 11th Avenue.
